Gujarati Missi Roti Thepla
Missi Roti Thepla or masala roti is one of the popular breakfast in Gujarat. It is a spiced paratha Gujarati breakfast/comfort food. Missi Roti Thepla is good for travelling and it is also liked by children’s. Theplas with methi is another option.
Gujarati Missi Roti Thepla recipe.
Besan (Kadalaimavu) 1 cup
Atta ½ to ¾ cup
Kasoori Methi (dry fenugreek leaves) 1 tsp
Turmeric ½ spoon
Asafoetida ½ spoon
Green chilli paste 1 spoon
Salt few pinches
Oil 1 spoon
Ghee to apply over the roti
Take a bowl, mix besan, atta, kasoori methi, turmeric, asafoetida, green chilli paste, salt and oil, mix well and sprinkle water and knead. Make it like a chappati dough and keep aside for 5 to 10 minutes.
Take a lemon size dough and roll it with roller and put it in the heated tawa, once we get bubbles flip on the other side.
Apply ghee on one side, flip after few minutes, apply ghee on the other side also. Once we get spots remove from tawa and serve with any gravy sabzi.
Instead of green chilli paste can add red chilli powder also.
Can add ¼ spoon of carom seeds (Omam)
You can also add 1 handful fresh fenugreek leaves instead of dry leaves.
