How to prepare onion chutney? Easy Cooking Recipe by Anuradha Ramaswamy
Onion chutney is one my favorite chutney for Idly,Dhosa,Phulkha Roti etc., It is very spicy and tasty dish.Read below to learn how to prepare onion chutney.
Tomato 1 (optional if added will give little different taste)
Green chilli 2
Bengal gram dhal 2 spoon
Mustard seeds 1/4 spoon
Asafoetida 3 pinches
Salt and oil as required
Chop onion, green chillies and tomato.
Pour 3 spoon of oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida and bengal gram dhal.
When dhal turns golden brown add chilli, fry few seconds and add chopped onion and tomato, add salt and saute for few minutes.
Cover and cook in low flame, stir in between. Once onion cooked remove from flame and allow it to cool. Grind the same and serve with roti or phulkha(Click the link to know about how to make Phulkha Roti).
Can add 2 pinches of Turmeric to get color and little flavour.
Do not fry the onion it should be cooked.
