Palak Kootu|Spinach Kootu
Spinach (keerai in Tamil, cheera in Malayalam, palak in Hindi) is one of the vegetables which are good for health and it has good taste. Below is the step by step process for making Palak Kootu|Spinach Kootu.
Ingredients
Palak / Spinach 1 cup chopped
Pasiparuppu 2 laddle (soaked for 45 minutes)
Coconut 3 tablespoon
Green chilli 3
Mustard seeds ½ spoon
Asafoetida ¼ spoon
Black gram dhal 1 spoon
Salt as per taste
Oil 1 spoon
Method :-
Cook dhal and keep aside. Grind coconut and chilli into a fine paste. Take a kadai, pour oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida, black gram dhal, spinach with little water and cook till it gets cooked. Add cooked dhal and the grinded paste with required salt, mix well and boil for 5 minutes in low flame. Turn off and serve with rice or roti.
Note
Can add cumin seeds with coconut while grinding to get different taste
Can add turmeric to get color and flavour
