How to prepare Vendhaya Kuzhambu? Recipe by Anuradha Ramaswamy
Vendhaya Kuzhambu / Venthaya Kulambu is one of my favorite tempting Kuzhambu with lot of health benefits. You can try it by following the below step by step instructions.
Garlic 10 pods
Tomato 2 chopped
Tamarind gooseberry size
Sambar powder 3 spoon
Turmeric ½ spoon
Mustard seeds ½ spoon
Fenugreek seeds ¼ spoon
Bengal gram dhal 1 spoon
Asafoetida ¼ spoon
Curry leaves little
Gingely oil 3 tablespoon
Salt as per taste
Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, fenugreek seeds, Bengal gram dhal, curry leaves and garlic, fry for 1 minute. Add shallots and fry till it turns translucent, add tomatoes, fry till it gets mashed. Add tamarind water, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt with sufficient water and boil for 10 minutes or the raw smell goes. Turn off the stove and serve with plain rice.
If it is watery add 1 spoon of rice flour with little water and add to this while boiling.
If shallots is not there then can use big onion 1
